A few words from recent guests.
Chitwan National Park is famous for the greater one-horned rhino, which most guests see. You may also spot spotted deer, wild boar, gharial and mugger crocodiles, monkeys and more than 500 bird species. Sloth bears and Royal Bengal tigers are present but sightings are rare and never guaranteed.
October to March offers cool, dry weather and clear visibility. Late February to April is hotter but wildlife gathers near water, improving sightings. The park briefly closes parts of the buffer during monsoon (June–August), when the Rapti runs high.
Sauraha is about a 5–6 hour drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara by tourist coach or private car. You can also fly to Bharatpur Airport (20–25 minutes from Kathmandu), a 25-minute drive from the lodge. We arrange all transfers on request.
